The Neighborhood
The property is located in the vibrant Penrose neighborhood of Arlington. In between Clarendon and Columbia Pike, Penrose is quiet and residential, but very close to all the action. In fact, it’s just a stone’s throw from the new Penrose Square – which has a splash park, Super Giant, great brewery and restaurants, and a yoga studio. For details, check out the Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization’s website.
Public Transport: Clarendon metro is a 15 minute walk away, but if you want to head straight into DC, the 16Y bus comes right on S. Court House Rd. – only one stop to downtown (19th & E street, in about 15 minutes). Other bus lines have been added recently, depending on your commute needs.
Restaurants/Entertainment: You definitely won’t get bored in this neighborhood! Within walking distance are top-notch Thai, Japanese, Peruvian, Chinese, Ethiopian, Turkish and Salvadorean restaurants. Head over to the iconic Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse to catch a flick and a good pitcher of beer.
Parks/Schools/Libraries: There are two quaint parks within 3 blocks of the house, both of which have playgrounds and barbeque areas. Towers Park is also a dog park. The school corresponding to 202 S. Court House is Patrick Henry Elementary, which is a top-rated school. The Columbia Pike branch of Arlington Public Libraries is also located right on Walter Reed.
Grocery/Drug Stores: Right on Columbia Pike there is a Giant Grocery store and a CVS. If you are looking for ethnic grocery stores, there are small middle eastern, Turkish, Thai and Oriental markets also nearby.
